Random Acts of Kindness is a program that builds lasting positive memories for Lincoln residents who need a little help during the Christmas season. 100% of your donation will go directly to the cash gifts that are distributed by LPD to Lincoln residents that are in need to brighten their holiday season.

What is Random Acts of Kindness?

The program is simple. Generous donors in the Lincoln, NE. area donates money (tax deductible) to the Malone Center. The Malone Center then donates the full amount (100% of your donations) to the Lincoln Police Department (LPD). LPD then packages gifts of $300 cash in an envelope along with a motivational holiday card and an informational resource pamphlet. The envelopes are then distributed by LPD officers to random Lincoln residents throughout the Lincoln community including; community centers, schools, grocery stores, and neighborhoods.

How does the program work?

The program is accountable using a tracking system that numbers each envelope that has a cash gift. The officers go out in the community in groups of 3-4 officers and as they give away the envelopes of cash they have a sign out system that is double signed by at least two officers assuring that all of the cash gifts are distributed to Lincoln residents. The Random Acts of Kindness will be distributed to the community by police officers during the week of Dec 16-20th.

What impact does the program make?

The program helps to continue the relationship building and positive image of partnership in the community between police and community members. The Police Officers give the gifts in a non-law enforcement situation bringing joy and good will to the Lincoln residents that they interact with. These interactions give the residents a much needed positive experience and memory to have with the police officers. The police officers benefit from being able to help out the community in a different type of way than what they are normally able to do.
