What is Random Acts of Kindness?

The program is simple. Each year, anonymous donors from Lincoln and the surrounding areas give tax-deductible contributions to the Malone Center, which then donates 100% of those funds to the Lincoln Police Department (LPD). In turn, LPD officers assemble $300 cash gifts in festive envelopes, each paired with a heartfelt holiday card and a community resource pamphlet. The envelopes are then distributed by LPD officers to random Lincoln residents throughout the Lincoln community including; community centers, schools, grocery stores, and neighborhoods.

How does the program work?

Each envelope is securely tracked and double-signed by officers to ensure full accountability, while allowing the gifts to remain completely anonymous to recipients.

🎁 The impact is profound: Residents experience a positive, uplifting interaction with local police, often creating lasting memories and rebuilding trust. Officers get the rare opportunity to connect with their community outside of enforcement roles, spreading joy and goodwill in a deeply human way.

Random Acts of Kindness proves that when we come together, we can change lives — one surprise gift at a time.  (Remember, your donation is 100% Tax Deductible!)

What impact does the program make?

The program helps to continue the relationship building and positive image of partnership in the community between police and community members. The Police Officers give the gifts in a non-law enforcement situation bringing joy and good will to the Lincoln residents that they interact with. These interactions give the residents a much needed positive experience and memory to have with the police officers. The police officers benefit from being able to help out the community in a different type of way than what they are normally able to do.
